This laboratory is accredited by DAK (Kosovo Accreditation Directorate) and re-accredited in 2018.
The work in the Dairy Laboratory is carried out based on SOPs (standard operating procedures) for all the above methods, filling in the quality system forms (FSC).
The calibration of the equipment is done with reference samples provided for in the Quality Management System.
This laboratory is responsible for testing fresh milk, which is taken from Kosovo farms, and brought to the laboratory. The milk must be fresh, which is taken from one or more regular milkings of healthy animals and comes to the laboratory with the test tubes prepared with preservative.

Equipment used for testing

BactoScan ™ FC – is a device that counts bacterial colonies in milk (CFU) and individual bacteria count (IBC). This device works according to Flow System Technology (Epifluorescent Cytometry), the device works according to ISO 21187 standard

MilkoScan FT 120– is a device that measures physico-chemical parameters. This device works on the principle of Infrared Spectrophotometry, the device works according to ISO 9622 standard.

Fossomatic™ Minor – is a device that counts somatic cells in milk. This device works according to the Flour optics electronic method, the device works according to ISO 13366-2 standard.

Based on Administrative Instruction 20/2006 “On quality standards and categorization of fresh milk”, this laboratory also performs categorization of milk samples.

Based on laboratory analyses performed and milk categorization, farmers receive subsidies from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development (MAFRD).
